Marlesha Hines

Pre K-4th Grade

I graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science Degree, in Interdisciplinary Studies. I furthered my education at Averett University, where I received my Master of Education Degree. I also hold a postgraduate professional license from the Commonwealth of Virginia with an endorsement in Elementary Education. Over the past 14 years, I have enjoyed teaching pre-k and kindergarten students. Currently, I am a pre-k teacher and tutor. I am a firm believer of meeting my students where they are and planning activities that will meet their needs. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons.

Sarah Davis, EdD.

PreK-5th

My name is Sarah Davis, EdD. I earned my Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction at Texas A&M University, my Masters in Education with a focus on Language, Literacy and Culture at University of San Diego, and my Bachelors Degree in Political Science and English from Skidmore College. I’ve taught children from ages 3-15. I’ve also had the opportunity to be intensively trained in the Lindamood-Bell LiPS Program, and I was trained in the Orton-Gillingham reading program through the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana. I served as a Literacy Coach for elementary age students, and worked 1-1 with them in a daily tutoring environment. I believe in a multi-sensory approach to learning, having fun, creating strong relationships, and meeting kids where they are to give them confidence to move forward. In my free time, I enjoy exercising, being with my children, and working on my writing projects.

Coretta Tate

PreK-5th & Middle School Mathematics

My name is Coretta Tate. I have received a Bachelor Degree from Virginia State University in Elementary Education and Master’s from Liberty University in Administration and Supervision K-12. I am entering my 25th year in education. I have taught Head Start, 1st grade and 3rd grade. I have served as an Assistant Principal on the Elementary and Middle School levels. I am currently serving as Assistant Principal of Alternative Education. I believe that all students can learn but as educators we have to figure out the best way for students to learn individually. I work hard to build relationships and love to see them make progress.

Angela Burns-Boone

K-12 Reading Specialist

My name is Angela Burns-Boone. I am originally from Mississippi but have lived in Virginia for the past 9 years. I have been a reading specialist for the past 2 years and have 20 years of experience as a teacher in grades PreK-6. Not only have I worked with students, but have also trained teachers with Teach for America. I received my B.S. and M.S. in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University in 2002 and 2004. In 2014, I graduated from Delta State University with a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration. I received my Reading Specialist certificate from VCU in 2020. During my summers, I have either taught summer school or worked in a daycare. Most of my spare time is spent taking my 9 year old daughter to her extracurricular activities but when I do get free time, I love to read, travel, and spend time with family and friends.

Samone Cotman

2nd-5th Grade Reading Specialist

My name is Samone Cotman. I graduated from VCU with my BA and Masters in Teaching. I have been teaching for 8 years. I have taught 4th grade for the majority of my career, 1st grade one year, and I'm currently teaching 3rd grade reading. I am a teacher and tutor. In my experience, students need one-on-one individualized learning to improve and sharpen the skills they don't know they already have. Once their confidence builds, they realize they are successful and can do anything they put their minds to. When I'm not teaching, I am home with my daughter and husband (if he's not deployed). I enjoy crocheting, painting nails, and solving puzzles.

LaChelle Roberts

My name is LaChelle Roberts, I graduated from Virginia Union University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Business Economics. I attended the University of Richmond for the career switcher program to be licensed in Secondary Education. I am currently attending the University of Richmond to obtain my Master of Education in Leadership. I currently teach in Henrico County at Fairfield middle school. Mathematics is my favorite subject because “it always adds up.” In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my son and doing outdoor activities such as camping and four wheeling.

My name is Jesicka Monroe and I have a B.A. in Psychology and Special Education K-12 Certification. I've worked with Chesterfield County Public schools for 8 years and served as a special education teacher (SOL and adaptive curriculum) I am excited to work students and help them find "super power" so they can be successful.

Jennifer Sale

4th and 5th Grade

Greetings, I'm Jennifer Sale, a data-informed educator dedicated to inspiring every student I engage with to strive for excellence. As a mother of two, one enrolled in early college at UNCC and the other in middle school, I bring a wealth of personal experience to my teaching approach. My educational background includes an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Planning. Currently, I am pursuing a Master's degree in Educational Leadership. While my primary focus is teaching 4th and 5th grade math, I have also taught literacy and have expertise in various math and literacy intervention programs. I hold certifications in Orton Gillingham and LETRS, and I am actively working towards full AVID certification. Witnessing the joy on children's faces as they grasp new concepts is immensely rewarding for me. I firmly believe in challenging students to step out of their comfort zones and engage in productive struggles to master concepts effectively. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate with your child and equip them for their future achievements!

Parrish Padgett

I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012. I moved to Chesterfield in 2019 from Williamsburg, where I worked at Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for 7 years. I have been involved with after-school tutoring programs and worked with children in a one-on-one setting in other non-profit organizations over the last 10 years. I enjoy giving back to the community and believe education is the foundation of a better tomorrow, and I'm happy to be a part of it. When I'm not working with the students, I enjoy time with my family. I enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and fishing. I also enjoy traveling, museums, cooking, yoga, live music, and of course, reading. I absolutely love animals, especially cats. I look forward to working with you and your scholar.

Hello, My name is Jennifer Vasquez. I’m from Colombia. This is my second year in education and I’m loving it. I came to this country in 2005 to visit my family and I decided to stay. I lived in New Jersey for 4 years and went to Bergen Community College to learn English as a second Language for 2 years. Then I moved to Virginia in 2009 where my daughter Emily was born. I love to spend quality time with my family. I enjoy helping people to succeed in life. That's why I chose this position.

Nisa Lee

My name is Nisa Lee, I graduated from Slippery Rock University with my B.A. in programs for Persons with Disabilities. I then received my Master in Elementary Education, certified Pre K-6th grade. I have taught for the past 6 years, 1st and 2nd grade. My goal is to support students and watch them achieve personal and educational milestones. In my spare time I love spending time with my Husband, son and dog. I also love to work out and am a huge advocate for moving your body and eating healthy. I am so excited to work with your student.

Francis Ferebee, M.Ed.

PreK-5th

My name is Francis Ferebee, M.Ed. I earned my Masters of Education in Special Education at Grand Canyon University, my post graduate certificate in College and Career Counseling at University of California-LA, and my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in Math at Elizabeth City State University. I also have an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, infant to five years old from College of the Albemarle. I have 13 years of experience in teaching and instruction, working with students with a variety of abilities in various academic settings. I have a blended and inclusive style of teaching that enables me to tailor my styles to student needs and appropriate subject matter. In my free time, I enjoy line dancing, self-care activities, and going to live concerts.

Allison Lewis, MEd.

K-12 Reading Specialist & Special Education

Hi! My name is Allison Lewis, MEd. I earned my Masters in Education as a Reading Specialist from Regent University, my K-12 Special Education Endorsement from Old Dominion University, and my Bachelors Degree in Health and Women’s Studies from the University of Richmond. I have 18 years of teaching experience in the areas of Special Education and Reading at the elementary level. Currently, I serve as our school’s Literacy Specialist for grades K-5, where one of my roles is providing intervention services for students with reading difficulties. I am Orton-Gillingham trained through the state of Virginia’s Structured Literacy Institute, and I like to incorporate those techniques and other science-based reading methods to help students become confident readers and writers. Helping children learn to read is one of my passions! I also enjoy spending time with my family, writing, singing/dancing, and sitting outside in the sun.

Middle School Mathematics

My name is Kira Brown, I graduated from Virginia State University with my B.A. in Education. I continued my learning at Liberty University with a M.Ed in Administration and Supervision. I am a Teacher and Tutor that believes all students are capable of learning and sessions should be individualized and catered to the needs of the student. I have a heart for math and have been tutoring students in Elementary, Middle, High School & College level. I am currently a 6th grade math teacher in Hopewell, VA. When I am not sharing my love for math you can find me working on DIY project and painting.

Christen Schumacher

Pre K-4th Grade

My name is Christen Schumacher, and I am so excited to help students feel and BE successful! I graduated from the University of Wyoming with B.A. in education and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction. have been teaching for 16 years, and I believe that every student can be successful and show growth with individualized instruction targeted at their needs. I am devoted to learning what a student needs, developing lessons to meet those needs, and adjusting my instruction when they need additional help or grasp the concept quickly. I am currently teaching 2nd-5th grade students in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Besides helping students become lifelong learners, enjoy exploring the great outdoors with my family and two rambunctious weimaraner dogs, volunteering, making earrings for my Etsy shop, and crafting!

Iman Gonzalez

Pre K-5th Grade

My name is Callie Loreto, and I have been an elementary educator for 12 years. I have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a Master's degree from Colorado State University-Pueblo in Curriculum and Instruction. I have spent the entirety of my teaching career working with students from Pre-K to 2nd grade. Working with young students and helping them develop a true joy for learning while simultaneously laying a strong foundation in reading and mathematics is my passion. There is no greater joy than seeing a young learner have that "lightbulb moment" and feel confident in themselves! Currently, I am teaching second grade in Fairfax County. I am trained in Orton-Gillingham and UFLI which are two phonics-based programs that target reading needs. I also use creative and hands-on ways to build mathematical understanding. When I'm not working, I enjoy crocheting and hiking with my family!

My name is Elendar Crump and I have a passion for education. I strongly believe that every child has the ability to learn and thrive when provided with the appropriate modifications, scaffolding, and respect for their individual learning style. While I am certified to teach students from pre-K through grade four, the majority of my 31 years of teaching experience has been in first through third grades. . I strive to incorporate research-based and best practice strategies into my teaching, empowering students to actively engage in their own learning. I believe in maintaining a strong work ethic and regularly evaluating student progress to ensure effective teaching and learning. It is important to identify what is working well and what needs adjustment in order to provide the best possible educational experience for students. As an educator, my focus is not only on academics but also on fostering a safe and compassionate learning environment. I believe that character development is an integral part of education and that children should feel safe to make mistakes and learn from them. I also recognize the crucial role of parents as the first teachers and strive to provide them with the support they need to help their children succeed in school.

Carol Deliazard

Pre K-6th Grade& English as a Second Language

My name is Carol Deliazard, and this is my 15th year as an educator. I have taught grades K-5. I've been a Literacy Support Specialist and an ESOL teacher for middle school. I hold a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Liberty University and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with ESOL Endorsement from Florida International University. I've been married to my husband for 15 years. We have a 14-year-old daughter, an 11-year-old son, and a 4-year-old. My favorite hobbies are traveling, photography, and spending time with family. By far, this is the most rewarding profession, and I love it. My favorite team is the University of Miami Hurricanes. My favorite color is teal. My favorite food is cheesecake and seafood. My favorite place to be is all over the world. So much to see and learn!

My name is Amie Talk. I graduated from James Madison University with my Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies. I then received my Masters in Elementary Education, certified Pre K-6th grade. I have taught for the past 14 years, 5th, 3rd and 2nd grade. My goal is to support students where they are and provide strategies to build their independence and confidence. In my spare time I love spending time with my dog, family and friends. I enjoy going to the beach, reading and trying new recipes.

Erica Shelton

Hello! I am Erica Shelton, and I have been an educator for 16 years. I received my Bachelors degree in Communication from Old Dominion University and in 2022 earned my Master’s in Education from Virginia State University. I have worked with students from varying backgrounds and with different needs. I have served as coordinator of an after-school tutoring program and a summer camp for elementary students. My belief is that not all students learn in the same manner but all are able to learn, we just have to find what works best for them individually. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my two children and our dog. Say the word shop, and I’m there!

My name is Octevia Torian. I have a BS from Averett University, a MS from Capella University and have obtained certification in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. I have 18 years of experience in education. I have taught grades K-6 general subjects and currently serve as a K-5 STEAM Teacher. I have also spent 4 years teaching abroad in Abu Dhabi. I love to travel. When I am not teaching I run a non-profit called Positive Vibes Wellness, Inc which I founded. The focus of my non-profit is STEAM education and the well-being of youth.I love giving back to the community and I love teaching and helping students succeed.

My name is Heidi Castle. I graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education General curriculum K-12. I am an educator that believes every student is able, they just need to build their skills and confidence. I strive to provide individualized instruction and conquer that "aha ha" moment. I am currently a special education teacher for elementary students in grades 3 and 4. When I am not shaping minds of our future I am spending time with my husband and our pets!

I am Doris Allgood. I graduated from Virginia State University with a B.S. degree in Early/Elementary Education Pre-K- 5th grade. I received my Masters' Degree in Reading/ certified as a Reading Specialist from Regent University. I began a mentoring program called "Princess Power." I focused on working in the community, self-esteem workshops, education and so much more. I am presently working with a non-profit program under the leadership of Octevia Torian.. I am presently volunteering at Reid working with 1st grade Accelerated Readers and tutoring at my church. I love the Lord and enjoy singing and reading.

My name is Raja Mason and I am ecstatic to help students become increasingly successful. I earned my Bachelors degree from Virginia Commonwealth University as well as a Masters in Teaching degree. I received a Post Masters certificate in Administration and Supervision from University of Virginia. I am currently on year number 25 in education. I have been a classroom teacher for Richmond Public Schools all 25 years. I enjoy my career and love to share my knowledge with other teachers as a mentor teacher. I am currently teaching 4 th grade, but have taught all elementary grades in some capacity. I enjoy shopping, traveling, and spending time with my family, including my son who is in his senior year of high school in Chesterfield County Public Schools.

My name is Iman Gonzalez, and I thrive in supporting students to become successful! I graduated from the University of Houston in Texas, and am currently receiving my teaching license at the University of Virginia at Wise. I have been teaching for 3 years as a long-term substitute teacher in various grade levels. I have always believed that students succeed with one-on-one instruction that targets their needs. With it, I have seen such progress and improvement in their grades and confidence and I hope to bring that to every student to meet their needs. I am currently tutoring K to 2nd in Chester, Virginia. Besides helping students become successful, I enjoy hiking, reading, writing and spending time with my family and friends in between my busy work-life.

Hello! My name is Moraima Rodriguez. I have over 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I received my B.A from University of California, Irvine, my multiple subject teaching credential from California State University, Long Beach, and my Special Education credential and Masters from National University. I enjoy working with children and helping them learn. I'm fluent in English and Spanish. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family. I have 3 children. I like to read, spend time outdoors, and travel.

Sabrina Taylor

Pre K-6th Grade

I am Sabrina Taylor. I am an elementary school teacher in Chesterfield County. This is my 16th year teaching!I have earned an associates degree from Richard Bland College and a Bachelor’s degree from Virginia State University with an endorsement in Pre K-6th grade education. I also received my M.Ed in curriculum and instruction from Averett University in 2013! I have experience working with students that have special needs and learning disabilities, English Language Learners, and students identified as gifted and talented. I believe in teaching the whole child and meeting students where they are academically, while guiding them to reach their learning goals using a variety of strategies that work best with their unique learning styles. Teaching is my passion and I can not wait to begin our learning journey!! When I am not teaching, I enjoy painting, hiking, cooking, reading, movies and spending time with my family!
